Return on Giving is philanthropic investment in social enterprises which are run by entrepreneurs for profit and social good.
By investing in these companies the Giver may see a financial and social return. As well as having some say in how their gift is spent it may be possible to structure the investment to get their initial funding back with interest.
This site has been set up to promote the concept of achieving a Return on Giving as:
1) an alternative to cheque book giving
2) a more entrepreneurial way of achieving social change
3) reducing investment risk by finding match funding and soft loans to underwrite the projects
4) better company structures to provide better tax benefits and
5) to try and get the Government to see that the Big Society needs properly capitalised companies providing long term programmes.
